Soak the cobs in hand-hot water for 20 minutes. Drain all of them thoroughly.
If the cobs have no husk, brush with oil and cook on a hot barbecue for around 30 minutes, brushing occasionally with the oil and turning often.
If the cobs have husks, remove all but the last two layers and brush with oil.
Cook over a hot barbecue for about 40 minutes, brushing with oil once or twice and turning occasionally.
Serve corn of the cobs hot, without the husks. If you like, add some butter or lemon or salt to taste.
