Belgian endive is a type of leaf vegetable that is available throughout the year. The torpedo-shaped vegetable has white leaves naturally. Depending upon the maturity the leaves are soft and can have red and yellow color. Due to the soft texture, it is essentially used in recipes, a bit bitter but pleasant flavor makes it a favorable choice for the cooks.

This vegetable can also be halved and chopped at the same time. In chopped form, it is mostly used for garnishing purposes. It has a capacity of being stored for almost two weeks. Other than that, it is an excellent digestive aid as well. It can also act as a laxative if required.
