1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp light cream
1 small onion
1 ¼ cups milk
2 cups fresh white bread crumbs
Salt and black pepper

Peel the onion and insert the cloves into it. Put into the saucepan with the bay leaf and pour in the milk.
Bring back to the medium heat and stir in the bread crumbs. Simmer for about 5 minutes or until thick and creamy.
Stir in the cream and butter than add salt and black pepper to taste.

If you like less strong flavor, reduce the number of cloves in the onion and add a little freshly grated nutmeg to the milk.
