The taste of this sweet dish by Chef Shireen Anwer is as crisp and delightful as the recipe itself. I have always preferred recipes that are instant and short and this is one dish that is as tasty as it is easy.
Ingredients: Cappuccino Base
2 rolls of marie biscuits
4 packets whipped cream (chilled)
8 tbsp caster sugar
1 tbsp coffee dissolved in water (2 cups)
1 tbsp coffee for sprinkling
Ingredients for Praline
1 heaped cup sugar
3 tbsp mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews)
½ cup milk
Preparation Method – Cappuccino Base
Dip the marie biscuits in the dissolved coffee solution dipping two biscuits at a time. Set the biscuits after dipping in a dish, lining its base. Whip the cream until thick before adding in 1 tbsp of coffee dissolved mixture and caster sugar. Pour over the biscuits and leave aside for 10 minutes. Chill the dish in the freezer for at least two hours. Sprinkle coffee on top and garnish with crushed praline.
Preparation Method – Praline
In a pan heat all the ingredients together until the sugar changes its color to brown and becomes thick. On a baking sheet take out spoonful of the mixture and flatten. Press the crust slowly, after it is set crush the praline and top the cappuccino base before serving.
