  • 200 g shredded cheddar cheese,
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • ¼ cup softened butter, cut into large portions
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp red pepper, crushed (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350° F.

Take a food processor or a large bowl and add all 5 ingredients, excluding the milk, mix until it forms into the powdery dough. Now add milk gradually.  Start with ½ tablespoon and pulse or knead it by hand until dough is well blended.

Take this dough onto parchment paper or a silicone mat and knead the mixture until it becomes together like a ball for a few seconds or so.

Roll dough with a rolling pin that the thickness is fairly even. Don’t make is very thin otherwise, it will burn during frying. Now you can cut it by using a pizza cutter or use a knife in a square shape or rectangle shape or any shape, you like it.


Arrange all pieces on a baking sheet. You can place them closely because they don’t spread much.

Make a little hole in the middle on each with any small object to give a decorative shape. This is optional and you can skip this step.

Bake homemade cheese crackers for 20-25 minutes in a preheated oven until their edges are just turned to brown.
