Leaf Lettuce, Green Leaf, and red leaf is a hazelnut flavored food that belongs to a family of Lactuca genus. It is originated from the region of Asia and Europe.  These leaves are darker in color. The red leaf is more reddish and purple from the edges. Both of the types have a shorter shelf life and can get decomposed really quickly. The green lettuce is lighter green in color and has a more tender nature.

It is crunch and hard naturally. The quality of this green food is that it can significantly increase the nutrient intake in the body. This food is equally good with other vegetables. The red leaf is available throughout the year. Due to its juicy and crunchy nature, it can be used in sandwiches and salads.  These vegetables have generally mild delicately earthy flavor. Both of these lettuce family members have a high concentration of vitamins A, C, betacarotene, folate, and calcium.

The butterhead lettuce is a type of vegetable that is categorized into two types. First one is Boston and the second type is bibb. It is a kind of food that has green grass leaves. Both types can be used interchangeably because of the same texture and flavor profiles.

The Bibb lettuce is originated and cultivated in Frankfort. The butterhead lettuce is expensive in nature and has a shelf life of one month only. These leaves are used in sandwiches after cutting and chopping. From the outside, it is a lot similar to a flowering rose. It is enriched with phosphorus that is an essential component for the strengthening of bones and teeth’s. It is a kind of palatable food that has low fat and low calories.

Due to extended shelf life, in the shredded form, it can be used in sandwiches.

Iceberg Lettuce can be flavorsome if mixed with arugula, kale and other leafy greens. Alternatively, it is also called Crisphead lettuce. There are some health benefits that are also offered by this food. There are relatively low calories and high water content available in it that is why it is very helpful in reducing the weight. Moreover, birth defects can also be prevented with their use. There is a fair amount of vitamin A and vitamin C available in it.

The leaves of this particular food are deep green in color. The Romaine lettuce is long and crisp in nature. The usefulness of this vegetable is that it can be used in many cuisines. It is a kind of lettuce family member that has a head forming structure.

 

Once the leaves are broken there is a milky liquid that is excreted, this liquid is actually responsible for the bitterness present in it. It has Vitamin C and beta-carotene along with folic acid. This veggie can deal with a number of health complaints. There is dietary fiber present in it that can break down the cholesterol. Due to fine-bitter herb taste, it can be cooked and used in soups.
