Barbecued Octopus Recipe

Octopus is a favorite dish for many of us; try this barbecued octopus recipe with lime, and coriander at home.  We have used Kecap manis, also known as ketjap manis in this Barbecued Octopus Recipe. It is an Indonesian sweet, thick soy sauce available from some Asian food stores and few super markets.

 

 

SERVES                                 4

 

Preparation Time:                20 minutes (plus marinating time)

Cooking Time:                       10 minutes

 

Ingredients: Barbecued Octopus Recipe

or Lime and Coriander Octopus Recipe

1.25 kg baby octopus

2 tbsp sweet chili sauce

1 tbsp kecap manis

¼ cup fresh lime juice

2 cloves garlic, crushed

2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped

2 lime, sliced thickly

Remove and discard head and beaks from octopus; cut tentacles in half.

 

Combine chili sauce, lime juice, kecap manis, garlic and coriander in a large bowl; add octopus. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.

 

Drain octopus and discard marinade.

 

Cook octopus and lime slices in batches on heated oiled barbecue, uncovered, until brown and cooked through.

 

Serve octopus with lime slices.
