Lotus seeds or Lotus Nuts are edible in nature; they are produced from the lotus flower. The quality of this food source is that it can be consumed in both raw and cooked form. It is a type of eatable item that is harvested in August and September.

One of the prime qualities of lotus seeds is that they have both nutritional and healing abilities.  Once they are dried lotus nuts can be roasted just like the popcorn. There are basically two kind’s lotus seeds. First one is the white and second one is peel. The rough texture of this consumable food makes it more versatile. Seeds can be used in dishes like soups and salads. The seed heads are naturally developed; the heads must be removed before the seed is eaten. Chinese pastries, Japanese cakes and desserts use these seeds quite often.
