Red Cabbage with Red Wine

Red cabbage is relatively well liked due to its versatility. Cabbage is a favorite ingredient for many of us.  This delicious dish is energetic as it is aromatic and vibrant. It is a great recipe that makes an attractive side-dish that will amaze your guest.

 

 

SERVES                 6-8

Preparation and Cooking Time   2 hours 15 minutes

 

Ingredients: Red Cabbage with Red Wine

1 red cabbage

1 large onion

50g lean meat

5 tbsp olive oil

3 tbsp wine vinegar

250ml stock

1 small potato

1 cooking apple

1 tsp dill seed or caraway

Pinch of sugar

Salt and sugar

 

Preparation Method: Red Cabbage with Red Wine

Finely chop the red cabbage, removing the stalk. Finely dice the onion and meat.

Heat the olive oil in a large flame-resistant casserole. Add the onion and meat and sweet until the onion is transparent. Gradually add the cabbage, stirring frequently. Cook for about 15 minutes, until collapse.

Add in the 2 tbsp vinegar and pure in the stock to cover the cabbage.

Coarsely grate the potato and apple into the cabbage. Add the dill seeds or caraway, sugar, salt and pepper. Cover tightly and simmer gently for about 1 ½ hours. At the end of the cooking time, the liquid should have reduced considerably.

10 minutes before add another 1 tbsp vinegar to get the aroma.

Serve Red Cabbage dish as an accompaniment to poultry or meat.
