  • cold water, 2-3 tbsp or 30-45 ml
  • butter cube, 55g/2oz
  • salt, a pinch
  • plain flour, 125 g/40z

In a large size, bowl put the salt and flour. Put in the cubes of butter.


In order to create a uniform mixture, rub the butter with your fingertips and convert the butter into the flour. Continue this practice until you get a mixture similar to coarse breadcrumbs. There should be large lumps of butter in the mixture. Do this work faster otherwise the mixture will become greasy.


Pour some cold water in the mixture and stir this solution with the help of a knife to bind the dough together.


Use a cling film to wrap the dough and chill for 11-16 minutes.


Add the salt, butter, and flour in the food processor. Pulse this mixture until the fat is rubbed into the flour.


Add the water with the help of funnel gradually with the motor running until the dough comes together. When the dough binds together then stop adding more water.


Use a cling film to wrap the Shortcrust pastry dough as before. Before using it chills for 11-16 minutes.
