Delicious Spaghetti with Meatballs Recipe that is loved by adults and kids. It is an easy Italian recipe of tasty beef meatballs that are cooked with tomato sauce mixed with spaghetti. Spaghetti with Meatballs is a traditional Italian-American dish.

 

Ingredients:

Spaghetti, 350 g

Tomatoes, chopped, 400 g

Tomato paste, 1 tbsp

Chili sauce, 1 tsp

Brown sugar, ¼ tsp

Cheddar cheese, 75 g

Salt, to taste

Freshly ground pepper, to taste

Cheddar cheese, to serve

Freshly chopped parsley, to garnish

Freshly chopped oregano, to garnish

 

For the Meatballs:

Lean beef mince, 450 g

Onion, peeled and chopped, 1 large

Egg, beaten, 1

Tomato paste, 1 tbsp

Freshly chopped parsley, 2 tbsp

Freshly chopped oregano, 1 tbsp

Preheat the oven to 200 C, 15 minutes before using. Place the chopped tomatoes, chili sauce, tomato paste and brown sugar in a saucepan. Now add salt and pepper as per your taste and bring it to boil. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, then cook uncovered for another 10 minutes or until the sauce has reduced and thickened.

Meanwhile, make the meatballs. Place the meat, breadcrumbs, and onion in a food processor. Blend until all the ingredients and well mixed. Add the beaten eggs, oregano, parsley and tomato paste and season to taste with salt.

Shape the mixture into a small ball, about the size of an apricot and place on an oiled baking tray. Cook meatballs in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until cooked and browned.

Meanwhile, take a large pan of little-salted water to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the packet instructions or until ‘al dente’.

Drain the pasta and return to the pan. Pour over the tomato sauce and toss gently to coat the spaghetti. Tip into a warmed serving dish and top with the meatballs, Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately with grated cheese.
