Tomato Sauce Recipe

If you are looking for a full and real tomato flavor and rich red color, fresh red plum tomatoes are an excellent choice. However, you can use other types of red tomatoes also to make rich tomato sauce. It is noted that a good quality tomato sauce is one the first things that a cook or every person who loves to cook awesome food should learn to make. Italians are perfect in making tomato sauce superbly.

Tomato sauce is normally used as a base on pizza; it is served as pasta sauce, or alongside barbecued or pan-fried meat or fish. The fresh tomato sauce can be made easily and quickly.

Ingredients: Tomato Sauce Recipe

750g tomatoes, peeled and chopped

2 tbsp olive oil

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1 large onion, chopped

1 carrot, finely chopped

1 celery stalk, finely chopped

4 tbsp vegetable stock

2 tbsp red wine

1 tsp sugar

Bouquet garni

1 tbsp tomato paste or to taste

Salt and black pepper

 

 

Preparation Method: Tomato Sauce Recipe

Heat the oil in a saucepan; add the garlic and onion and sauté until soft and pale golden brown. Add the celery and carrot and continue to cook, stirring occasionally until it becomes golden.

Include tomatoes, stock, wine and bouquet garni. Add salt and black pepper to taste.

Bring the tomato mixture to a boil then cover and simmer gently for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the bouquet garni, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning, adding sugar and tomato paste as desired.

Serve the tomato sauce as it is or to get a smoother texture, press through a sieve or make a smooth puree by using food processor or blender.

Use Tomato sauce as a base on pizza or serve as the pasta sauce, or alongside barbecued or pan-fried meat or fish.
