Wakame is a type of Kelp that frequently used in American and European dishes. It is seaweed that has dark green leaves. Commonly known as a cleanser it is harvested in Japan and Tasmania.  Normally it is available during the spring season. As an integral part of miso soup, it can provide slightly sweet taste.
