This is the most liked steamed fish dish in Thailand. It is served with spicy sauce. The fish is always steamed whole in Asia but you can use fillets also to reduce the cooking time. Thai Steamed Fish Recipe is one of the healthiest and quickest main dishes to prepare.

 

Ingredients:

Sauce:

• 2 Tbsp brown sugar
• 1 Tbsp garlic
• 2 Tbsp light soya sauce
• 1 big onion, chopped
• 2 Tbsp fish sauce
• 1 tsp of vegetable oil
• spicy Thai chili pepper
• Garlic
• Lime Juice

• Sesame oil
• 8 whole Thai red chilies
• 7 pieces of galangal
• 8 kafir lime leaves
• Lemongrass, chopped
• ½ Tbsp garlic
• 2 Tbsp brown sugar
• 3 Tbsp fish sauce
• 600 gm Basa fish
• 2 Tbsp lemon juice
• Sufficient amount of water

 

Preparation Method:

• Wash the fish with water, and then cut the fish into medium size pieces or fillets. Let the fish fillets to become dry.

• Take a medium size bowl and put the fish fillets, red chilies, fish sauce, kaffir lime leaves, fresh lemongrass, and galangal. Put the bowl in a steamer and steam it. Continue the process of steaming till the food cooks thoroughly.

• In the meantime, put some oil in the pan and heat it with spring onion and garlic. Heat the onion and garlic till they become brown. The duration of 30 seconds is sufficient for this stage.

• Once the fish is steamed well then put this sauce over fillets of fish uniformly. Pour the remaining or surplus fluid over the fish surface from the bowl.

• Serve the fish hot with salad and drinks.
