Spiced Orange Tea

Carefully grate the rind from the orange by using the fine side of a cheese grater. You must take care that you don’t get any of the white pith into the peel.

Put the grated rind into a large pot and pour over the water. Stir in the spices.

Cover the pot with the cling film and pierce the several times with the knife tip.

Heat the water on high for 7-10 minutes or until it is boiling.

Uncover the water and add the tea bags. Stir well and leave to stand for 5 minutes.

Use a nylon sieve to strain the tea into another jug to remove the tea bags, spices and the orange piece of peel.

Serve the spiced orange tea hot; reheat it for 1 minute on high if required. You can chill it and serve as the cold tea.

Serving Idea:

Serve warm with twists of thinly paired orange rind floating in the tea or very cold with ice.

Cook’s Tip:

Only use whole spices in this recipe as ground spices will impart a stronger flavor and will leave the tea cloudy and grainy to drink.
