Bolognese sauce is a meat-based originated from Bologna, Italy. This delicious Spaghetti Bolognese recipe has very simple ingredients that making it suitable for everyone’s dinner and it really creates the tasty family dish. The rich and thick Bolognese sauce provides a great depth of flavor.

 

Ingredients:

Spaghetti Bolognese | Italian spaghetti recipe

Lean Beef minced, 450 g

Smoked streaky bacon, chopped, 225 g

Carrot, 1

Celery stalks, 1

Garlic cloves, 2

Onion, 1

Chopped tomatoes, 350 g

Tomatoes puree, 2 tbsp

Red wine, 150 ml

Plain flour, 1 tbsp

Dried mixed herbs, 2 tbsp

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Sugar, a pinch

Spaghetti, 350 g

Sprigs of oregano, to garnish

Shaving of Parmesan Cheese, to serve

 

Preparation Method:

Peel and chop the carrot, trim and chop the celery and chop the garlic and onion. Heat a large non-stick frying pan and sauté the beef and bacon for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned. Add the prepared vegetables to the frying pan and cook for about 3 minutes or until softened, stirring occasionally.

Add the flour and cook for another 1 minute. Stir in the red wine, tomatoes puree, mixed herbs, season to taste with salt, pepper, and sugar.

Meanwhile, take a bigger saucepan of lightly salted water to the boiling point and cook the spaghetti for 10-12 minutes or until ‘al dente’. Drain well and divide between 4 serving plates. Spoon over the sauce and garnish with oregano sprigs and serve immediately with plenty of Parmesan shavings.
