Matar paneer is a delicious and truly amazing veggie recipe. It is served with snacks or paratha. Fried and flatbread are stuffed with healthy and soft boiled green peas. It is an everyday recipe that is made of cottage cheese and peas blended in tomato gravy. It takes around 40 minutes to make Matar Paneer Recipe.

Matar Paneer Recipe

  • Cottage cheese (cubed) 2 cups
  • Shelled green peas 2 cups
  • Green chilies, little split 4


For the curry (gravy)

  • Tomato puree  ¼ cup
  • Onion, chopped   2 cups
  • Ginger, chopped 1 tsp
  • Garlic cloves paste 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds  2 tsp
  • Bay leaves (tej patta)    2
  • Turmeric powder (haldi)  ½ tsp
  • Spices powder (garam masala)  ½ tsp
  • Red chili powder ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder (dhania) 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped  to garnish
  • Oil ¼ cup

Preparation Method:

Matar Paneer Recipe

Place the medium-size bowl over the heat source and add oil, bay leaves and cumin seeds.

Put in onion paste. Sauté for few minutes till fat separates.

Add coriander powder, red pepper, garam masala, salt, turmeric and tomatoes in a bowl. Stir-fry till fat separates.

Add green chilies, paneer, and peas and sauté over high heat for few minutes.

Bring it to boil after adding 2 cups of water. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve Mater Paneer dish hot with roti or paratha.
