Doodh Peda is a simple and easy dessert that is prepared with evaporated milk solids and sugar. It is a traditional sweet prepared in different regions of Pakistan and India. It is made on special events and festivals because it doubles the fun of parties. You can also prepare it with several kinds of milk or dairy items. But we are focusing on the basic peda recipe today.

Some events and festivals feel incomplete without any dessert. It’s a big opportunity for ladies to show their culinary skills to their guests. And I’m sure they will remember this recipe for a long due to its yummy taste and flavor.

We shared this recipe because it only requires a few ingredients. All you will need is full cream milk, sugar, cardamom powder, and of course little time and hard work. The only thing that is time-consuming is the evaporation process. This step is very important to solidify the milk. It takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to prepare this dessert.


Moreover, in order to get the original taste you just need to follow some important tips and suggestions:

  • Use full cream milk in order to obtain desired results. You can also use skim milk but in the end, you will get fewer milk solids. So, doubles the amount of milk to obtain the best result.
  • If you want to add artificial flavors for increasing the taste and aroma then you can add vanilla or chocolate or even kesar flavor.
  • The most important factor is flame in this process. Adjust the flame otherwise it may burn the milk and the taste of the overall recipe may change.

  • Full cream milk, 5 cups.
  • Sugar, ¼ cup.
  • Cardamom powder, ¼ tbsp.

Preparation Method:

  1. Add 5 cup milk in a large pan. Always use full cream milk for a creamy texture.
  2. Mix thoroughly otherwise milk will start sticking to the bottom of the vessel.
  3. Heat milk on a medium flame.
  4. Stir occasionally, the milk start thickens in 8 minutes.
  5. The milk change into creamy consistency after 30 minutes.
  6. Change the flame from medium to low.
  7. It will change into a thick paste after 50 minutes.
  8. Then add ¼ cup sugar. Check the taste and add more sugar is required.
  9. Heat it for 4 to 5 minutes until sugar completely dissolves.
  10. Keep cooking until the mixture separates from the pan and gets solid shape.
  11. Cool it down and form a small ball.
  12. Give a ball sized shape with the help of mold. You can also design it with a fork or toothpick.
  13. Store the milk peda at room temperature and serve to your guests. You can store the leftovers in an airtight container.
